TGIF is reason enough to feel happy, but even more so when there’s a weekend road trip on the calendar. In just a few hours, I’ll pack up the laptop and head across state to participate in this weekend’s Color Run in Clearwater.
Dubbed the “Happiest 5K on the Planet”, The Color Run was founded in March of 2011 to promote healthiness and happiness. Since then, the event series has grown in size and scope, hosting more than 170 events in more than 30 countries last year alone.
Getting showered in colored dust would make anyone smile, but the real “happy” comes in being able to give back. Since inception, the run has donated more than $3 million to charity.
Like myself, more than half of race participants are first-time 5K runners.
