Google Announces Mobile-Related Algorithm Update
Google announced in late February that starting on April 21 they will use mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Google makes hundreds of algorithm updates every year and while we only ever hear about a few of them, rarely do they carry such a heavy warning. As a Google Premier SMB Partner we have been hearing buzz surrounding this type of update for 6 months now but the February announcement has made it official. Up until now, a mobile friendly site has been a best practice and recommended for a better user experience, but not a mandatory strategy. Starting in April it will no longer be an option.
