We are already well into 2015 but it’s not too late to talk about how content and advertising are served to consumers on a daily basis. Social media marketing is no different than any other type of advertising when it comes to change. I recently stumbled across an article by socialmediaexaminer.com that predicts what will happen to social media in 2015. They were able to come up with 28 really compelling predictions!
Here are my top 3:
1) We are going to see many more paid ads on all platforms: It’s no secret that ads have been popping up on Facebook and Twitter in the last few years. Instagram is also jumping on the sponsored content bandwagon by allowing companies like State Farm and Ben and Jerry to pay for spots on a user’s live feed. Those advertisers who have tried avoiding this form of social advertising will be forced to use it in 2015.
2) Fans will demand interaction with their favorite brands: One of the first rules of social media advertising is “never ignore your followers”. If someone comments on a post, the brand should definitely answer them! Of course this can’t be done for every comment, every day but advertisers should interact with their fans as often as possible to make them feel heard and appreciated.
3) Video will become content of choice: The second largest search engine is YouTube but Facebook is making a name for itself when it comes to video. Facebook videos are shared significantly more often than YouTube videos and that number will continue to rise in 2015.
2015 will bring a lot of change to the world of Social Media Marketing! And, we are going to try to keep up!
